Last Sunday, April 28, the young teens from the Coming of Age (CoA, COA) led the service that they designed. From the lighting of the chalice to the music, their service was a wonderful exploration and reflection on the theme of friendship. We are hard-wired for relationships and long for deep connection and intimacy. When we experience true friendship we are grateful. After creating a “friendship soup” we were also reminded that we need to be a friend to ourselves.
They shared a quote from Albert Schweitzer:
“At times our own light goes out
And is rekindled by the spark from another person.
Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude
Of those who have lit the flame within us.”
